Gramvousa – Balos Lagoon

A piece of paradise on earth. Enjoy a full day excursion to two of the most beautiful destinations in Crete: Gramvousa Island and the famous Balos Lagoon. This relaxing cruise takes you to the north-western part of the island, combining stunning landscapes, crystal-clear waters, history and unforgettable views.

Once the pick up is complete, your day trip begins. During the journey, while admiring the diverse landscape of Crete, your escorting guide will share useful information about the island, its traditions and history. Our destination is the north-western coast of Crete and the beautiful sea shores of Gramvousa and Balos.

The first stop is the port of Kissamos, where we board the boat to Gramvousa. During the cruise, you will have the chance to admire an impressive geological phenomenon: the western side of Crete is rising, while the eastern side is sinking. This natural process has created a visible coastline that reveals the island’s geological history.

After approximately one hour by boat, we arrive at Gramvousa, also known as the “Pirate Island”. This uninhabited piece of paradise is famous for its beautiful beach and turquoise waters. You will have free time to swim, relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. For those who wish, there is also the option to walk up to the highest point of the island, where the Venetian fortress, built in 1579, is located. The climb takes around 20 minutes and rewards visitors with a breathtaking 360° view of the area.

Back on the boat, we continue our cruise towards Balos Lagoon. During the trip, you can relax on board and enjoy lunch or drinks.

Upon arrival at Balos, prepare to be amazed by one of the most photographed places in Crete. Famous for its shallow turquoise waters, white sand and exotic natural beauty, Balos feels like a modern paradise. You will have plenty of free time to swim, walk around and explore this unique landscape, which is protected by the NATURA 2000 network.
